The Jubilee of Marriage on July 26, 2025, was a resounding success, embraced across California and beyond. Special Masses were celebrated in 7 dioceses, and couples in all 12 dioceses took part in meaningful ways. Dioceses including San Jose, Santa Rosa, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Francisco, Orange, shared beautiful invitations and media content, while seven dioceses featured the Jubilee prominently on their websites. A special shoutout to the Diocese of Orange, whose Mass drew a packed house! The momentum for marriage revitalization is growing—even the Archdiocese of Detroit joined in with its own jubilee!
Group weddings and convalidations are striking a deep chord with the faithful. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles shared beautiful photos and videos from their ‘Bodas Comunitarias,’ prompting an outpouring of positive responses and eager questions about future participation. A single Facebook post from the Diocese of Orange’s convalidation invitation months ago earned 200+ likes and 100 shares, demonstrating the heartfelt hunger for communion and sacramental grace.
We’ve also seen creative, localized celebrations that are lifting hearts and turning heads:
- Holy Family Parish in American Canyon, Santa Rosa, dedicated the entire weekend to celebrating married couples. Fr. Fred led a renewal of marriage vows to commemorate the Jubilee, followed by a joyful parish celebration for the couples and the wider parish family.
- Sacramento offered a special marriage blessing by boat during their Corpus Christi procession.
- Santa Rosa shared a Radiate Love pilgrimage for young couples.
- Archbishop Cordileone released a video inviting couples to the upcoming Together in Holinessretreat.
The bishops’ reflection videos continue to resonate deeply, amassing over 141,000 views across social platforms. One of the most recent reflections from Bishop Cotta alone garnered 15,000 views on Facebook.
This movement is growing. The witness of holy marriages is radiating out into our communities, inviting all generations to encounter the beauty of God’s plan for love, family, and sacramental grace. It is inspiring hearts and renewing a culture of marriage in our parishes, our state, and beyond!
