This bill will provide a streamlined process for religious organizations and nonprofit colleges to develop affordable housing on their property. The Catholic Church believes that housing, and access to housing, is a fundamental human right that recognizes the life and dignity of every person. Several churches are exploring ways to build affordable housing on their own land. This bill is what pastors and leaders are referring to as YIGBY – “Yes in God’s Backyard” to play off of the term NIMBY – “Not in My Backyard.”
