This bill establishes a statewide childcare pilot subcommittee to create pilot policies addressing major issues with childcare that impact parents, children, and providers to help working poor families. California families are struggling, facing inaccessible and unaffordable care. The cost of childcare rivals the cost of housing, there are currently not enough providers, and many families fall into the gap, making too much to qualify for help but too little to afford care. Creating pilot policies responsive to the needs of families and local communities would help address systemic issues in this vital network so families can thrive in CA.
