AB 89 (Sanchez) Prohibits Males Competing in Girls’ High School Sports – Support

This bill prohibits males from participating on women’s sports teams. There are 6500 genes expressed differently between men’s and women’s bodies. After puberty, males have 10 to 30 times more testosterone than females. These physical differences between men and women make separate categories for male and female sports necessary for fairness and safety. This legislation would help keep a level playing field for women and girls, protecting their educational opportunities while encouraging gender nonconforming youth to participate in sports according to their natal sex.
