AB 51 – Universal Early Care

This bill would expand eligibility for low-income families for state preschool, make it easier for children to transition between state and private preschool, and improve the rate reimbursement for childcare services, reflecting the loss of 4-year-old children who begin attending transitional kindergarten. This important legislation will create a just transition for community-based providers. The California Catholic Conference, as a matter of justice, advocates for the high-quality education of all California’s students attending our public and private schools, starting with early childhood. The California Catholic Conference believes AB 51 provides the necessary education reforms, resources, and creative public/private partnerships that directly support children.
