Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

The theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2022 is “We saw the star in the East, and we came to worship Him” (cf. Mathew 2:2)

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity has a history of over 100 years, in which Christians around the world have taken part in an octave of prayer for visible Christian unity.

The theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2022 is “We saw the star in the East, and we came to worship Him” (cf. Mathew 2:2), and was selected by the Middle East Council of Churches and originates from the churches in Lebanon. Lebanon is experiencing extreme economic and humanitarian hardships. The power of prayer in solidarity with those who suffer is a demonstration of Christian unity and a sign of communion.

By annually observing the WPCU, Christians move toward the fulfillment of Jesus’ prayer at the Last Supper “that they all may be one.”  (cf. John 17:21)
